#BlogTour #Review : Autumn Skies over Ruby Falls by Holly Martin. @HollyMAuthor

I’m thrilled to be reviewing this book today, a perfect autumnal read and therefore ideal for right now as the leaves begin to change and the urge for hot chocolate increases. Many thanks to Holly for having me on her tour and sending me a copy of the book to review.

Blurb: Clover Philips is exactly where she’s meant to be – back home on Jewel Island teaching dance to the guests at the beautiful Sapphire Bay Hotel that she co-owns with her sisters Skye and Aria. Her life is complete, except for one thing…

When Clover left London she also left behind a devastating betrayal. She hasn’t been able to date anyone since, let alone allow herself to fall in love. What she needs is a casual fling to ease herself back into romance. And as luck would have it, the very handsome Angel Mazzeo is back in town.

The chemistry between Clover and Angel has been undeniable ever since Angel first arrived on Jewel Island six months ago. And though content to be her friend till now, Angel is more than willing to help Clover find her dating feet again.

It should be easy to keep things carefree when love is off the table, but when every moment is magical what started as casual soon becomes something much deeper. Will Clover and Angel find the courage to tell each other how they really feel? And is Clover ready to do the one thing she swore she’d never do again, fall in love?

My Review:

This is a lovely book and one that focuses very much on the autumnal and Halloween period which is unusual for a book in my experience.

The story follows Clover and Angel meeting again and deciding to have a fun, no commitment relationship while he is on the island and she deals with learning to trust him after what happened in her previous relationship.

It’s a lovely, warm and cosy story set on a pretty island. The descriptions made me feel like I was there myself and I could almost hear the sounds of the autumn festival that the hotel and residents have put on to boost visitor numbers to the island.

We get to see Clover and Angel’s relationship change over the course of the book but also how that affects her sisters and their own relationships. All of these characters are really clearly written and easy to picture. However, my favourite character has to be Sylvia, she’s not in the story much but she’s fabulous. I want to be like her when I’m that age!

If you’re after something to settle down with on an autumn evening, that will make you feel warm on the inside (ideally with a hot drink) then this is definitely a book that will do just that.
